Maggie Ries delivers high-energy alternative pop reminiscent of international hits like "Good 4 U" by Olivia Rodrigo or "10 Things I Hate About You" by Leah Kate.
Her journey began at just 14 years old, when she started working in recording studios—not only writing songs for herself but also for other artists. Over time, she gained extensive experience as a session singer. In 2018, she released her debut album Daydreams—a country-pop record under her birth name Laura Ries.
Since then, Maggie has evolved as an artist. She completed a master's degree in Music Business at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and spent a transformative year in Norway. Immersing herself in songwriting and vocal performance, she refined her craft and discovered her true voice. Currently, she is pursuing a master's in Popular Music with a focus on Singer-Songwriting at the Popakademie.
Now performing as Maggie Ries, she’s ready to show the world who she really is: bold pop anthems with rock influences, infectious hooks, and energetic vocals that inspire listeners to embrace life, even in the face of challenges. Always with a touch of self-irony (“no make-up, I look like my ugly twin” – from Pretty).
Her latest EP, released on November 15, 2024, financially supported by Initiative Musik, explores themes of failed friendships, relationships, gender inequality, and the struggles young people face in a fast-paced, pressure-driven world. Distributed by The Orchard, the EP’s tracks bring depth, honesty, and power to the table.
Maggie’s mission is to be a role model for a generation that, amidst TikTok videos and perfectly curated Instagram feeds, often forgets what truly matters in life and why it’s worth raising your voice. With this EP, Maggie Ries reveals a more profound and self-reflective side than ever before.
